After pressure from members to take action on the unsustainable ways of previous events, the RCN have responded by putting together information to explain what is being done and how people can contribute in making Congress more environmentally friendly. You can find out more by clicking here, but read the key changes below:

Catering
RCN are encouraging delegates to bring their own reusable mug/cup and will have some on sale at the event. All of the single use takeaway containers will be made from plants and compostable after use.

Printed Materials
In the efforts of going paper-free, this years Congress will have most of their information provided digitally, rather than being printed for all of the delegates. They have also stopped producing schedules to limit paper use, and have made sure all material that is printed is done so on recycled paper.

Delegate Bags
Delegate bags, and the associated promotional fliers and fillers they contained, will no longer be produced for Congress.

These might only seem like small changes, but they are huge in changing attitudes and helping embed sustainability across all NHS staff.
