Nominations are now open

for the NHS in the North Excellence in Supply Awards 2020.

This year the awards will recognise the response of the health and care sector to COVID-19.

The awards are open to any business which currently supplies goods, works or services to NHS trusts in the North of England, and to any NHS trust in the North.
The deadline for nominations is 21 August 2020. An awards ceremony will be held online on 22 October.
The awards will consist of three categories:

  • Excellence in supply during COVID-19: Fighting the virus
  • Excellence in supply during COVID-19: Supporting the system
  • Excellence in supply during COVID-19: NHS procurement heroes

Suppliers can enter for more than one category providing a different project is used for each nomination. The initiative must meet the award criteria set out in the award description. Higher marks will be awarded where evidence or data is provided and results are supported.

The NHS in the North Excellence in Supply Awards are organised by the NHS Supply Chain Northern Customer Board and the Innovation Agency, the Academic Health Science Network for the North West Coast. The awards are co-sponsored by Health Innovation Manchester and Yorkshire & Humber AHSN.

 

Award categories and criteria

 

Excellence in supply during COVID-19: Fighting the virus

We’re looking for organisations that reacted innovatively during the pandemic to enhance patient care in an NHS trust or NHS community through the supply of a product, process or service. We’re looking for innovations which directly supported the response of the health and care system to the virus, for example the provision of vital equipment, services enabling the deployment of NHS staff, platforms enabling remote working etc.

Your submission should be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Brief description of your company and its involvement with the NHS trust/community
  • The purpose, aims and objectives of the initiative
  • Impact and results that have been achieved
  • How you plan to develop or sustain the work

Excellence in supply during COVID-19: Supporting the system

We’re looking for organisations that reacted innovatively to support, enhance or transform existing areas of patient care or services provided by an NHS trust or community that were impacted by the pandemic, for example the provision of mental health services, physiotherapy, home care etc.

Your submission should be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Brief description of your company and its involvement with the NHS trust/community
  • The purpose, aims and objectives of the initiative
  • Impact and results that have been achieved which could include effects on productivity, efficiency or cost savings
  • How you plan to develop or sustain the work

Excellence in supply during COVID-19: NHS procurement heroes

We’re looking for a procurement team or members of a procurement team who have provided exceptional support to their trust during the COVID-19 pandemic. This award is particularly for those who have demonstrated leadership and innovation.

Your submission should be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Innovative ways of working the team/individual displayed
  • Leadership qualities the team/individual displayed
  • Impact and results they’ve achieved which could include effects on productivity, efficiency, cost savings or culture change

Submission requirements

 

To enter for an award, use the ENTER NOW buttons to go to the online entry form. You will be required to write a title, a 100-word summary and a 500-word description for your submission.

Judges will assess submissions based on how well they address the award criteria.

If you are are shortlisted, you will need to submit a short video and other material in support of your submission. This video may be used during the online awards ceremony and shared via social media.

This video should be about 35 seconds in length and comprise:

  • a 5-second introduction
  • 10 seconds describing the problem
  • 10 seconds describing the solution
  • 10 seconds describing the impact
