NHS Supply Chain says it is building an automated savings reporting tool
Trusts frustrated by current savings reports
NHS Supply Chain plans to deliver the new system in quarter one of 2020/21
Trusts may not know how much they are saving through a national efficiency project until at least April 2020, HSJ has learned.
A spokeswoman said NHS Supply Chain plans to have an “automated, self-serve savings reporting tool” ready in quarter one of 2020/21 — a year after trusts had a portion of their tariff income withheld to fund the project.
NHS Supply Chain, which buys consumables and medical devices, previously said a “critical” systems issue had emerged over the summer. It told HSJ it had been producing savings reports manually, leading to delays.
