9 July 2020 – The extraordinary work and commitment of NHS procurement teams throughout the country has helped to mitigate many PPE shortages during the early COVID-19 period.
As we once again thank the healthcare procurement community for their performance during this unprecedented period, the HCSA has noted concerns raised over a potential second wave of COVID-19 and the significant strain it could mean for procurement teams. Indeed, responses to our social media polls have reflected understandable anxiety surrounding preparation for a second wave.
We are therefore looking to reassure all members that HCSA executives are in discussions with national stakeholders and seeking assurances that there is a plan of preparation in place to avoid a repeat of the level of PPE shortages encountered earlier in the COVID-19 crisis.
The HCSA is determined to ensure all the work, commitment and heroic efforts of the last few months will not be in vain and will have the lasting effect all your efforts deserve.
