Over the last 8 weeks the supply chain manager (Greg) and inventory reduction manager (Radek) have worked every weekend to completely re-configure the receipt & distribution area to create a hub for the consolidation of material flow into Guy’s Hospital and design out silo store areas scattered across the basement area. The project is also designed to ensure deliveries are held in a clean and secure environment before onward delivery and to increase team morale by providing a bright and modern working environment.
Key activity has included: removal of 150m+ of metal cage partitions; re-painting 200m of walls; designing out silo uniform, linen, pathology, crash trolley store areas, building a secure store for high value items; installing a new kitchen; and over the weekend supporting the laying a 100 sq m vinyl floor.
David Lawson said ‘it’s been a great effort to create a new facility that will further develop our services.’
