Following a review of Department of Health & Social Care (DHSC ) analytical products in 2016-17 it has been agreed with DHSC statistical colleagues that there is insufficient resource to maintain the Health Service Cost Index, and HCHS, and so the index has been discontinued.
The 2016-17 monthly indices, and re-weighted Annual Summary are the final publications.
Department of Health & Social Care advise to redirect users to other published price indices such as GDP deflators, RPI, ONS etc.
