At 11 o’clock on the 31st January 2020 last week, the UK left the European Union. At that point, the Transition Period kicked in and will apply until 31 December 2020.
Therefore, on a practical level, nothing changes immediately for procurement professionals once we left the European Union. The Public Contracts Regulations 2015 will continue to apply.
There has been significant debate about what the future may hold. Much will depend on the outcome of the trade negotiations. Rather than try and predict the future, once we know more about the future of procurement law, we will write again to update you.
Until then, it is business as usual.
