Professor Duncan Eaton was an NHS Manager for 40 years which included 16 years at CEO level. 10 years at Bedfordshire Health Authority and 6 years at the NHS Purchasing and Supply Agency, which he established.
During his career he was a member of the Cabinet Review of NHS Procurement (1998) and the Procurement Capability Reviews of the DH and the Treasury 2008/9. He was Chair and President of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply and played a major part in the Institute achieving its royal charter.
Since leaving the NHS he has remained active in healthcare management and purchasing and supply. This has included non executive director positions at NHS Commercial Solutions, NHS London Procurement Partnership and Chair of GS1 UK Healthcare Advisory Board. He is also a non executive on the board of several commercial organisations and he chairs Bladder Healthcare U.K. a charity that supporting those with bladder problems. Other roles have included Visiting Professorships at the University of Bath and Senior Executive Advisor to the All Party Parliamentary Health Group.
He has been active in HCSA for over 50 years including positions of Chair and President. Since the achievement of charitable status he has been a Trustee (Deputy Chair), “I very much would wish to offer myself for consideration for the next phase in the development of HCSA and to continue to use my experience, contacts and knowledge as we influence the future of NHS procurement during such a vital time for the NHS”
