Melloney Poole OBE, Chair of Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust, visited the Supplies Team at Queen Alexandra Hospital on Thursday 26th April 2018 and presented the team with a ‘Hidden Heroes’ certificate to thank them and show her appreciation for all they do.
The team of 22 staff provide a Supply Chain Management Service to the Wards, Clinics and Departments releasing clinical time back to the patient. They are a skilled and dedicated team of Supply Chain Professionals with a proven track record of reducing expenditure, waste and improving processes and have won a number of national awards! Supply Chain staff manage stock on behalf of the Wards and Departments against a predetermined range of products and levels agreed with the budget holder. This benefits patients by having the right product in the right place and freeing up clinical time to be spent providing patient care.
During Melloney’s visit she had the pleasure of meeting the longest serving member of the team, Angela Hunter, with 33 years’ service and also had a very informative and interesting tour of the Supplies room, thank you to Paul Allen – Supply Chain Manager.
