I am writing to inform you of some of the changes proposed to the National Procurement Forums (NPF).
Previously, these forums were held quarterly in London, with mainly Acute Trust representation from each STP. Future NPFs will remain as quarterly meetings, but papers will be circulated to all Heads of Procurement, both Acute and Non-Acute (i.e. Ambulance, Community, Mental Health and Specialist providers). The July 2018 NPF will have Acute Trust representation only and it is intended that at future meetings attendance will be rotated for different HoPs to represent their STP. Please only attend if you receive an invitation.
NHSI are exploring options for a portal where all NPF documents will be saved, providing access to all HoPs. This may be CPE portal, NHSI website or model hospital – tbc. It is intended for the portal to also include papers of previous NPFs. From July, a short newsletter will be circulated following each NPF which is intended for HoPs to share with their teams and wider audience if applicable.
An additional NPF will be held in September 2018 for Non-Acute Trusts only. The forum will be a workshop aimed at areas such as PPIB, Carter metrics and procurement standards. This will provide an opportunity for Non-Acute Trusts to focus on these areas.
From October, NPFs will have both Acute and Non-Acute representation. The agendas will be focused for the NHS landscape to work closer together where possible.
NHSI is intending to hold regional events as well. Some of these will be focused on case studies and will be open for HoPs who wish to take part to support the development of best practice.
The dates for the next NPFs are as follows.
- 24 July 2018
- 30 October 2018
- January 2019 – exact date tbc
- April 2019 – exact date tbc
Currently NPF events will remain in London, however alternative event locations are being explored. Regional venues will be considered for regional events.
