The HCSA had today welcomed Kath Ibbotson as our new Business Development Lead and member of the Executive/National Stakeholder Group.

Kath has over 40 years’ experience of NHS procurement and strategic category management experience, including roles within the former Purchasing and Supply Agency working as Theatre Buyer for NHS Supply Chain and at local Trust level.
Kath’s current role, which she leaves at the end of May, is that of CPP Category Tower Director for Orthopaedics, Trauma, Spine & Ophthalmology (Tower 4). Prior to her current role, Kath played a pivotal part in bidding for the 6 medical category towers during the Future Operating Model tender process. Kath now manages a team of over 30 staff working across all sub-specialities within orthopaedic and ophthalmology.
The team work with local Procurement staff to understand spend, develop workplans and support an end-to end engagement process to secure the best deals for patients, ensuring clinicians have the right products to deliver quality patient outcomes and the Trust secures the most commercially advantageous pricing to deliver savings, in line with Lord Carter’s principles to reduced un-warranted variation in productivity and efficiency.
Prior to her current role Kath was the Clinical Tower Director working for the North of England Procurement Collaborative (NOE CPC) where Kath managed a team of 15 clinical category procurement professionals, delivering over 60% of the £154 million savings achieved by the Collaborative to the NHS.
