What are you most proud of?

I believe I’m supposed to say my children here.

Which, of course, I am (over the 21 years I’ve had them they’ve definitely had their money’s worth out of the NHS, and have overcome significant challenges). But in fact, can I say running a marathon (well, two marathons now to be precise?)?

What makes you angry?

Inequity.

What sports team do you support (if any)?

I was born and bred in Leicester so it ought to be Leicester City, but as an adopted Sheffielder it has to be my local football club Hallam FC. Their ground is officially recognised by the Guinness Book of Records as “The Oldest Football Ground in the World” and is a short walk from where I live.

Which famous person would you most like to meet and why?

Hannah Waddingham. I’m in awe of this talented and ambitious woman who is pretty much the same age as me, who has juggled single-parenthood and a career (as I have in the past); who is multi-lingual and has a fabulous singing voice (as I have not); and she might be able to give me some gossip about Eurovision and Ted Lasso (which is absolutely my favourite TV show ever!).

What superpower would you most like to have and why?

I’m not sure this counts as an actual super-power but I’d love to have arms like Hannah Waddingham…

What historical figure do you most admire and why?

I’d like to nominate the whole suffragette movement for paving the way for me and other women to be politically active, with all the rights associated with that. I’m going to narrow it down to one of the Pankhursts, and will name Adela Pankhurst who was the youngest of the Pankhurst sisters and lived, like her mother, sisters and peers, a remarkable life. My link with her is that she lived briefly on Marlborough Road in Sheffield in a house she turned in the Sheffield HQ of the suffragette movement, and is commemorated with a plaque which is within walking distance of where I lived as a student at the University of Sheffield.

What’s your perfect weekend?

Friday night in front of the telly with my husband and daughter (and son if he’s ever home from uni and decides to grace us with his presence). Saturday morning has to be parkrun! I’m Co-Event Director of Hillsborough parkrun so I’d either be there volunteering or somewhere else touristing. Then coffee/ breakfast afterwards, followed by a quick shower at home, perhaps a bit of shopping or just a nap, and maybe a meal out with friends in the evening (Michelle Walker is likely to be one of them). Sunday morning – long run (ideally ending with food and some form of public transport adventure home) or a race with fellow Steel City Striders (up the green and gold!); chilled out afternoon; pub quiz in the evening! There may be red wine or real ale involved somewhere along the way too…

What’s your favourite meal?

This is so hard. I love ALL food but feel it’s unsophisticated to say “picky bits” or a “beige buffet”, but I like a lot of different flavours/ dishes in one go so I’ll say a Thali.

Can you describe yourself in one word?

Colourful

What do you hope to be doing 5 years from now?

More of the same hopefully! I love delivering training and events to NHS colleagues, and I consider myself pretty lucky and privileged in my life in general.
