HCSA

What are you most proud of?

Obviously my family and their achievements and my 44 year career in procurement in the NHS. I started as a Band 2 and worked my way up through the grades leaving as a Director, along with the 3 degrees I achieved it all still amazes me that I did this...and now working with the HCSA to support our profession…..I’ve yet to meet anyone who left school aiming to work for the NHS in procurement, but once you’re in you're in for good.

What makes you angry?

Lies, bullies, lack of transparency.

What sports team do you support (if any)?

Wow! Very topical…..Barnsley FC are my home team and whilst I’ve never been to a match and I can’t confess to being an avid follower, I do like to see them win, the match on Monday in the League One play-offs with Sheffield Wednesday at Wembley, one I daren’t watch for fear of jinxing !! Our family has supporters for Leeds Utd, Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool….so football matches can be interesting in our house.

Which famous person would you most like to meet and why?

I have absolutely no idea ! - the late Queen probably I suspect she would have had some amazing stories to tell!

What superpower would you most like to have and why?

Time travel, I would love to be able to go back through the years to see how life was in the past and to be able to visit some of the castles and stately homes in their hay day….saving a bit on air fair to go on holiday would be a bonus.

What historical figure do you most admire and why?

Marie Curie - she was the first woman to win a Nobel Prize which is an amazing achievement and her discoveries continue to deliver crucial benefits to healthcare, a fitting reminder of what women can achieve.

What’s your perfect weekend?

All the family together, good food, drink, sunshine and a swimming pool, there are 14 of us when we all get together so having everyone in the sameroom is getting to be a squeeze. Outdoors in the sun is much better but still noisy with 4 Grandkids all 6 yrs and under.

What’s your favourite meal?

Lobster thermadore …I love most shellfish…except oysters which just taste of sea water.

Can you describe yourself in one word?

Hardworking - I’d love to be able to relax and chill, but just end up thinking of all the jobs I could do if I got up and cracked on.

What do you hope to be doing 5 years from now?

Retired !….again !
