Sandra Barrow

Retired!

What are you most proud of?

My two sons Matt and Robbie, what they have achieved but most importantly the adults they have become. Alongside my 40 year plus career working for the NHS/DHSC.

What makes you angry?

I try not to be an angry person and in particular for aspects I cannot influence. I must however apologise to the people who are annoyed by people not indicating at roundabouts! That may be me on occasion.

What sports team do you support (if any)?

Barrow Football Club, no connection with my surname but my youngest son works for them as their Performance Analyst. Alongside Arsenal Football Club, the old adage if your children are happy so are you!

Which famous person would you most like to meet and why?

Nicole Kidman, great actress and whenever I see her name in a film or drama you know it’s going to be good. Added bonus I could ask her about her life with Tom Cruise.

What superpower would you most like to have and why?

To grant individuals who have a real talent / passion the opportunity to fulfil their dreams, as many people have talents/passion but far fewer have the opportunity to fulfil them.

What historical figure do you most admire and why?

Has to be Nye Bevan, for his creation of the NHS now 75 years on. I know despite the challenges he would recognise what a marvellous vision and achievement it was.

What’s your perfect weekend?

Meeting up with family and friends, ideally over some nice food, preferably not cooked by me ha ha and a glass of a Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc wine. A nice walk although I am a fair weather walker and no doubt an obligatory trip to the hairdressers.

What’s your favourite meal?

I do like a variety, from fully appreciating an occasional fine dining experience to enjoying a meat and potato pie at a football match, but must admit Fish, Chips and mushy peas with a glass of fizz would be up there.

Can you describe yourself in one word?

Content.

What do you hope to be doing 5 years from now?

To have hopefully fully embraced retirement, sampled some new hobbies but still feel I am adding value to the wider community and ideally a bit fitter than I am at the moment.
