NHSE has published its new operating framework, setting out the responsibilities of NHSE and local NHS organisations since statutory Integrated Care Boards (ICBs) were created in July.

Under the new framework, some integrated care boards will not hold the lead performance management role for a majority of their member trusts, under the centre’s new rules for regulating the service.

The document says ICS integrated care boards will provide “first line oversight of health providers across the ICS to oversee performance and contribution to overarching plans”.
