A prior information notice has been published regarding early engagement exercise plans for NHS Shared Business Services (SBS) to establish an inventory management software framework for £60,000,000.

NHS SBS intends to form the framework to offer inventory management providers a compliant route to market, across a number of lots.

The first lot is aimed at suppliers of inventory management software products for use in public sector organisations. This may contain software for stock control, re-order notifications, stock visibility, pharmacy management software, and ordering systems.

A lot is to be establish to support inventory management hardware, such as temperature controlled stock management, automated storage cabinets, pharmacy dispensing cabinets, and automated carts.

Lot three is to focus on pharmacy robots. Suggested areas for the robots include pharmacy dispensing robots, medication packagers, bespoke robots, hole-in-the-wall solutions, automated stockrooms, and pharmacy automated collection points.

Market engagement sessions will be held with industry experts and interested suppliers in May/June 2023, and NHS SBS notes that it will be using an eSourcing system for any procurement activity.
