Award Categories

This award recognises someone/or team within an organisation who has consistently performed their role in health care logistics to a level of excellence. This must include at least three of the following:

• Delivered or helped to deliver significant improvement in their organisation and/or profession
• Has demonstrated/implemented innovative methods in delivering and achieving the improvements
• Has achieved peer recognition for excellence in organisational and/or professional development
• Has delivered or helped to deliver significant savings or other efficiencies through their own initiative and/or exceptional dedication
• Has demonstrated outstanding ability to lead an organisation, a project or a team
• Demonstrates Social Value, Sustainability and or focused on environmental areas to enhance and improve outcomes for all
• Has demonstrated commitment to improving their own professionalism or that of colleagues in their own organisation
• Has developed and established excellent relationships within their own organisation or between their own organisation and others, leading to demonstrable benefits
• Has shared wider than their team/organisation the improvements and benefits achieved in improving logistics.

This award recognises achievement in delivering excellence to the NHS stakeholder organisation(s) which it serves, demonstrating some or all of the following:

• Customer service excellence
• Delivery of financial and other benefits
• Development and adoption of good practice
• People development and succession planning
• Peer to peer recognition and/or collaboration, sharing of best practice
• Collaboration with NHS, private, public and third sector organisations
• Strategic focus

• Has demonstrated outstanding ability to lead an organisation, a project or a team
• Has demonstrated exceptional progress or commitment to improving their own professionalism or that of colleagues in their own organisation
• Has developed and established excellent relationships within their own organisation or between their own organisation and others, leading to demonstrable benefits
• Demonstrates the ability to manage under extreme pressure

This award recognises the NHS procurement/supply chain management team and its partner organisation (private or public sector) which through the development of a collaborative partnership can demonstrate some or all of the following:

• Delivered through collaboration significant improvements in the delivery of procurement, logistics and supply chain
• Demonstrated/implemented innovative methods in the delivery of improvements through collaboration.
• Demonstrated the delivery of significant savings or other efficiencies through collaboration.
• Demonstrates the championing of Social Value, Sustainability to enhance and improve outcomes for all through collaboration or partnerships.
• Demonstrates the relationships and benefits of collaboration between organisations.

This award recognises an individual or team who has introduced a new innovation project/change in practice or product into their organisation resulting in significant improved patient outcomes, clinical engagement and supplier relationships.

The individual or team must demonstrate how they have transformed business/clinical practice through implementing collaboration/engagement to implement change.

This may include some or all of the following:

• How the project has resulted in new ways of working to improve patient outcomes, supplier relationships
• The purpose, aims and objectives of the initiative and why it was implemented
• Impact and results the approach has achieved which could include:
  • effects on productivity
  • efficiencies
  • cost savings or value-based outcomes
  • culture change /changes in working practice
  • improved patient outcomes
  • increased clinical engagement
  • Social Value, Sustainability and environmental improvements
• How you plan to develop or sustain the work

This Award recognises the efforts of an individual who has made a substantive and consistent contribution to a project or as part their everyday work, often going above and beyond to deliver.

The submission should outline why this individual in considered to have gone above and beyond their job role, how that impacts on the wider team/organisation, any feedback from the wider team/organisation that has recognised the additional contributions made.

Submissions should clearly outline what tasks have been undertaken by the nominee which make this candidate stand out from other members of the team. This may include taking on additional tasks and responsibilities, working smarter/differently to deliver to improvements to the organisation which have then been recognised as excellent ideas and implemented wider.

This award recognises a leader at any level a future leader/aspiring candidate or someone that has an innovative way of working or leading by example. They can be at start, midst or final years of career consistently performing their role in health care purchasing and supply to a level of excellence. This might include one or several of the following:

• Positive impact on others and the world around them leaving a legacy of success
• Great communication, enthusiasm, and problem-solving skills
• Promotions or activities above and beyond role
• Specific successful projects, outcomes or areas of focus
• Inclusive non-judgemental open to all views
• Represents the profession with pride
• Leading with brilliance, purpose and passion
• Leads and lifts others to achieve excellence
• Creativity, vision and integrity in their character
• Setting the pace for themselves and others

This award is intended to recognise excellence and innovation in sustainability/social value, or both.

This can be an individual or team working in a health care organisation who demonstrates an organisational wide commitment for sustainability/social value or both.

The submission should demonstrate evidence of excellence in the delivery of sustainability/social value or both that has had a direct and positive impact to patients, the organisation and/or wider health community.

This may include some or all of the following:

• Demonstrates the impact of sustainability/social value or both in improving outcomes
• Champions the sustainable/social value environmental benefits to the wider health community
• Demonstrates commitment to improving sustainability/social value or both by innovative methods/continuous improvement programme
• Delivery of significant improvements in reduction in the carbon footprint of the organisation
• Demonstrates how sustainability/social value objectives and benefits are measured

The Lifetime Achievement Award (previously Chairs Award) can be for a team or an individual/individuals. It recognises excellence of delivery within the Procurement community. 

The criteria for the award include one or several of the following,

• Has been at the forefront of strategic change
• Has made a significant contribution to the health care supply profession
• Has significantly raised the profile of the profession, or their organisation(s)
• Has performed their role (strategic or operational) to a level of excellence and with dedication, enthusiasm and professionalism, over a number of years, directly or indirectly supporting colleagues to deliver frontline patient care

Oversight of this award sits with the HCSA Executive who will accept nominations throughout the year leading up to the Annual Awards.

The nomination submissions need to be in writing, please download the submission Lifetime Achievement nomination this needs to be completed and emailed to admin@nhsprocurement.org.uk submissions can be received from,

The HCSA Executive will check the submissions for suitability to be put forward for the Lifetime Achievement Award. The HCSA Executive may make a recommendation to forward for consideration or advise on an alternative award within the regional or national awards programme.

This award (previously the President’s Award) recognises excellence within the Procurement community. 

The award is normally awarded as a team award. 

The nominations might include one or several of the following,

• Successful delivery of strategic change
• A significant programme or project that benefits the procurement community or profession
• Has significantly raised the profile of the profession, or their organisation(s)
• Benefits directly or indirectly in the delivery of frontline patient care

The nomination submissions need to be in writing, please download the submission Outstanding Achievement nomination  this needs to be completed and emailed to admin@nhsprocurement.org.uk submissions can be received from,
